Bob Caruso is a Managing Director and Executive Committee member with Alvarez & Marsal’s North American Commercial Restructuring (NACR) in Chicago. 

Mr. Caruso specializes in advising management teams, boards, lenders and other stakeholders of companies engaged in financial or operational restructurings. His areas of expertise include advising on financial and operational restructuring strategies; business plans and related financial projections; cost cutting and revenue enhancement strategies; liquidity management; sizing, structuring and raising DIP and other financing; preparing and operating companies through a Chapter 11 process; supplier management; and asset dispositions and wind-downs. 

With more than 30 years of restructuring experience, Mr. Caruso has worked with clients in various industries, including automotive, manufacturing, metals, power, energy, consumer products, gaming and retail. 

Mr. Caruso’s notable assignments include serving as Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) for Revlon Inc., as Chief Implementation Officer for Babcock & Wilcox, Inc., as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Exide Technologies, and as CRO for Noranda. He also worked with Global A&T Electronics (company);  A123 Systems (company), K-V Pharmaceutical (lender/company), a Severstal North America subsidiary (company), Delphi Corp. (company/DIP lenders), Meridian Lightweight Technologies (CRO, interim CEO and board member), TI Automotive, Station Casinos, Inc. (OpCo lenders), Plastech (first lien term lenders), Global Power, Inc., Payless Cashways, Fedders Inc., Frank’s Nursery & Crafts, Brothers Gourmet Coffees, Braun’s Fashions (senior lenders).

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Caruso was a Senior Managing Director with the corporate finance/ restructuring practice of FTI Consulting in Chicago, specializing in the restructuring troubled companies. Earlier, he was a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and a Managing Director with the corporate recovery services practice of KPMG. Mr. Caruso began assisting troubled companies as an Audit Manager with KPMG. 

Mr. Caruso earned a bachelor's degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam in the State of Illinois and is a Certified Insolvency and Reorganization Advisor (CIRA). Mr. Caruso is a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI).
